Jackets (regardless of the season) are the #1 item that I find that most women are missing in their closet/wardrobe.

If you are grabbing a jacket like this one (below, left) when you leave the house wearing an outfit like the one below, this post is for you!

Alt 1: The above cream Ganni jackets offers a down filling for warmth and cozy while elevated stylish elements like the flattering A line cut and collar interest.

Alt 2: ME+EM green jacket offers light rain protection and a hood to protect the hair!

The goal is to have several jackets in your wardrobe that match the various energy and dressiness levels of your look. I am all for a puffer jacket on the slopes or the mountain hike, but that same puffer for all your outfits, every day? It's time to elevate your everyday!

The Spring Jacket is all about lightweight warmth and a bit of protection from the rain. I am a big believer that jackets are so much more than a functional item. They are the cherry on top that completes your look. Please don't hide a great outfit by putting on the same functional, bland coat over it! Instead, try reaching for alternative jackets that are just as functional (or functional enough) for your real life vs “outdoor adventures” and create more harmony with your outfit underneath.

Some considerations when looking for a spring jacket:

  • An A-line creates a more feminine shape that nicely drapes over the hips.

  • Belts or cinching at the waist help create a defined, more flattering shape.

  • Many of the Scandi brands offer great functionality with uncompromised style. If it is good enough for the Danes in the wet, cold Baltic wind (trust me, I lived there), it's good enough for London, Portland, or SF. A few of my favorites are Ganni, H2OFagerholt, and Rains.

  • Think beyond the classic Levi's-style denim jacket; try long denim jackets, belted denim jackets, kimono style—so many great styles in denim right now.

  • I am all for adding color, but to ensure versatility, lean into neutrals. As you add more jackets to your wardrobe, you can start to add more nice-to-have pops of color in.

With clients in both the UK and US, I have put together my top SPRING JACKETS hitting the stores right now.
